Chief Executive Official, Institutional Official

Zheqing Cai, PhD, MD

Dr. Zheqing Cai brings more than two decades of extensive experience in cardiovascular animal research to CL Laboratory. Formerly an assistant professor in the Division of Cardiology at Johns Hopkins Medical School, Dr. Cai has been recognized for his contributions with multiple publications in prestigious journals such as “Circulation” and “Circulation Research”. With expertise spanning over 2,000 rodent models, including Myocardial Infarction (MI), Transverse Aortic Constriction (TAC), and Pulmonary Artery Banding (PAB), Dr. Cai’s meticulous approach ensures the precision and excellence of each model, supplemented by echocardiography on mice. These efforts have played a pivotal role in advancing drug discovery in cardiovascular research. Dr. Cai’s leadership emphasizes CL Laboratory’s steadfast dedication to excellence, efficiency, and ethics in the field. 

Attending Veterinarian

Catrina King, VMD, PhD, DACLAM

Catrina King, VMD, PhD, DACLAM is a licensed and accredited laboratory animal veterinarian with advanced training in molecular cancer biology. She currently serves as the Attending Veterinarian. She was awarded both a Veterinary Medical Doctorate and PhD in Cell and Molecular Biology by the University of Pennsylvania and completed formal residency training in laboratory animal medicine at Columbia University. Catrina has experience serving as a Clinical and Attending Veterinarian in various academic and industry positions.
