Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury (IRI)

IRI results from blood flow through ischemic area, also known as reperfusion injury. It is the common complication after ischemic organs are rescued from prolonged ischemia such as heart attack and stroke. Myocardial IRI model was the first animal model we developed in 2006. It is a popular animal model for drug development.

  • Efficacy Study in IRI Model (Mouse/Rat)

Myocardial IRI mimics cardiac injury after bypass surgery and angioplasty following MI. IRI animal model is induced by occluding the left coronary artery for a prolonged time periond, followed by reopening. Cardiac function can be reduced after IRI. Myocardial injury can be attenuated by an effective treatment (right panel).
