Animals will be imported from your facility after approved. Cardiac function will be assessed by echocardiography and Millar catheter at desired time periods.

Right Ventricular Pressure-Volume Loop
Right ventricular function (mouse/rat) can be measured by a Millar pressure-volume catheter through its apex or the jugular vein.
Left Ventricular Pressure-Volume Loop
Left ventricular function (mouse/rat) can be measured by a Millar pressure-volume catheter through its apex or the right carotid artery. After MI, left ventricular remodeling causes cardiac dilation and may impair contractile funcion, presented as an increased end-systolic volume and a slope decrease in end-systolic pressure-volume relationship (ESPVR) in infarcted mice (lower) when compared with sham mice (upper).
However, the slope of ESPVR is increased and end-systolic volume may be decreased in TAC mice (lower) when compared with Sham mice (upper). The slope of end-diastolic pressure-volume relationship (EDPVR) is increased in TAC mice, suggesting a decrease in diastolic function.
LabChart is used to record arterial blood pressure and ventricular ESP, EDP, +dp/dtm, -dp/dtm, SV, EF, ESPVR, and EDPVR.
